How the TDEE Calculator Works

BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) − (5 × age in years) + 5

TDEE Calculator Example
Consider a 30-year-old man who weighs 80 kg, is 180 cm tall, and selects an activity factor of 1.55.
First, estimate BMR using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation:
BMR = (10 × 80) + (6.25 × 180) − (5 × 30) + 5
BMR = 800 + 1,125 − 150 + 5 = 1,780 calories/day
Next, multiply the estimated BMR by the activity factor:
TDEE = 1,780 × 1.55
TDEE = 2,759 calories/day
The estimated Total Daily Energy Expenditure is therefore approximately 2,759 calories per day. Understanding Your Result
Your TDEE result represents an estimate of the total energy your body may use during an average day. It includes estimated resting energy expenditure plus energy associated with daily activity.
